There’s no denying that female DJ’s are taking the music world by storm. In a world once dominated by men, girls are rising up and showing everyone who’s boss with their bangin’ tracks. These girls will get you into that party feeling in no time.
1. Annie Mac
Perhaps one of the more famous female DJ’s around, Annie Mac has been gracing the scene for decades, entertaining all with her mixes of dance tunes. Having had her own prime time Radio One show since 2004, Annie is a veteran in the dance music world and has headlined festivals and clubs worldwide.
2. Hannah Wants
Not only is Hannah a renowned house DJ, she’s also a professional football player; ultimate girl boss! Hannah’s DJ breakthrough occurred in 2010 when she was asked to fill in for a DJ at Es Paradis in Ibiza. She was named ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ by multiple music mags & has quickly skyrocketed into fame; appearing at multiple festivals and even headlining her own Warehouse Project show. Oh, and she has her own music brand too. What a babe.
3. B Traits
Canadian born Brianna is a familiar face in the electronic dance, d&b, house & techno world. Another regular to Radio One, she began in 2012 hosting a monthly slot entitled ‘In New DJs We Trust’. Nowadays, she is part of the legendary Friday Night lineup alongside Annie Mac, Pete Tong and the Essential Mix where she plays from 1-4am. She’s also an advocate for better drug safety within the music scene and produced a documentary on this topic for the BBC a few years ago.

Siberian born DJ, singer & producer Nina is one of the most influential names in the underground electronic world. A fully trained dentist with a passion for music that stems from her days as a journalist, Kraviz’s work is intertwined with the roots of chicago house and detroit techno. These days she even has her own record label.

7. Helena Hauff
Helena Hauff is a DJ and producer from Hamburg, Germany with a speciality for all things techno. Whilst performing at some of the best festivals and clubs around the world, Hauff is notoriously secretive and often avoids the limelight, social media especially. She’s known for playing smaller clubs as opposed to big events and is an absolute must see if you can catch her.
Heidi started her career in 2004 and kicked off fully in 2006. In 2008, she got invited to do her own BBC Radio One show under a 6 month contract but has been there ever since, hosting her own ‘Radio One’s Residency’ on Thursday nights. She also runs a night called Jackathon events which hosts at various clubs all around the world.
Dutch-born Steffi is a key figure within the temporary electronic music scene. Not only does she DJ at clubs and festivals all over the world, she also runs two successful record labels; Klakson and Dolly Imprint. She’s gracing us with her presence here in the UK early December with Manchester label ‘Meat Free’ and we can’t wait to see her!
10. Madam X
Having come to Manchester as a student, Madam X quickly become a household Manchester name by working her way up through the ranks of the label Murkage. As a leading grime DJ, she has presented shows on Unity Radio and Radio1Xtra and released a host of tracks with the label BPM. She’s since gained global traction playing at numerous clubs and festivals.
