How to Remove Eyelash Extensions:

First things first, do not pluck or pull or pick your extensions. You’ll just pull off your natural lashes and no one wants a gappy lash line. Fight the urge because the best way for your extensions to come off is for them to fall off naturally either when your natural lashes shed or when the glue/lash bond has been broken.

Step 1: Try taking a hot shower. When your lash artist says avoid steam or getting your lashes wet to make your lashes last longer, what we want is to try and budge the stragglers you might have clinging on.

Step 2 : Use an oil based cleanser. Your lash artist should’ve warned you about any oils or oil based cleansers breaking down the bonds in your lash extensions. Its now time to do exactly what she told you never to do. Move in circular motions gently over your eyes and over the course of a few days this might do the trick.

Step 3: If the previous steps don’t work you can set up a bowl of hot water and place your head over it for 15 minutes. By draping a towel over your head this ensures the steam is going exactly where you want it to go – your lashes. Once this is done soak a cotton ball in coconut oil or olive oil and slowly swipe over your lashes being sure to get none in your eyes.

If you’re still having no luck with your spidery lashes, you’re going to have to wait it out to avoid lash damage. Remember DO NOT PICK THEM, a lash line that’s gappy will bring tears to your eyes, trust us, we’ve learnt the hard way.

How to Clean Eyelash Extensions

Cleaning your lash extensions is the key to long lasting lashes. Dead skin cells, oil, makeup and dirt build up in your lashes very quickly. This can lead to infections, styes, poor lash growth and lash mites (yes these are a real thing, and yes we have just put ourselves off lunch by googling them). Keeping your lashes fresh is a small extra step in your weekly routine and it has endless benefits.

1: Cleanse lash extensions at least 2-3 times a week, or every night if you’re oily or a regular eye makeup wearer.

2: Use a specially formulated lash cleanser (if you don’t have this check out our hack below) and a lash brush/spoolie and brush through thoroughly. It’s best to do this at night to remove any of the day’s makeup/dirt or oils that have built up.

3: Dry your lashes gently. Avoid rubbing your face on a towel or using cotton wool around your extensions as these can pull them off. If you wear Russian lash extensions, this step is more focused at you but classic girls you can do it too! Grab your hair dryer and put it on the coolest setting. Hold it at arm’s length and blow dry your lashes whilst brushing them through. This will fluff your lashes up and give you that fresh salon feeling.

Tips for looking after Eyelash Extensions

If you sleep on your side or your front youre going to want to change this sharpish. Sleeping on your front will flatten your lashes and sleeping on a certain side will lead to you losing more lashes out of the side you sleep on.

Put the mascara down. Some mascaras will contain oils that will break down your lash extensions and thats before you even try to start removing it safely. Your lashes

Also clump together and youll have a hell of a time cleaning up the mess. It’s just not worth it.

Avoid oil based products when it comes to your skincare routine , this is only going to shorten your lashes lifespan

Do not get your lashes wet for the first 24 hours whilst they cure, and avoid saunas, steam rooms and sunbeds for 48 hours

Try not to fiddle with them, they definitely won’t last as long if the oils from your fingers are all over them, especially when you’re weakening the bonds by playing with them.

Stay on top of infills, this will leave your lashes looking the best possible as often as possible.
