We’re not sure about you but here at EGO HQ we get mega excited each year to see what colour Pantone will choose as their colour of the year. Sure it sounds sad, but Pantone are the Queens of the colour world and whatever they predict always comes through and inspires a whole bunch of stuff throughout the year. For 2017, the chosen colour is ‘Pantone 15-0343 - Greenery’.
Whilst this isn’t your usual wearable everyday colour, it’s got a cute idea behind it. The colour is said to be symbolic for new beginnings, which is rather fitting after the shambles that has been 2016. So get used to seeing green everywhere; it’s here to stay. We’ve rounded up a few fun ways you can incorporate ‘Greenery’ into your everyday life, and how it’s already been influencing the catwalk.
Work it like Rihanna in this matching Versace coat & boot combo. We love how daring this is!
The IT-Girl’s bag of the moment is the Gucci Soho Disco Bag; it’s everywhere! Thinking of getting one for yourself? Why not go for green? It’s in after all.
One of the easier ways to green up your life is with your hair. If you don’t want to commit to the whole shebang, why not wear a green wig like Kylie? Stayin’ on trend without the commitment.
Again, another easy way to rock green without going too cray is with your makeup. Whether you’re feeling a green lip, a subtle green smoky eye or a flick of green liner; this is one of the most budget-friendly ways to show your love for Greenery. We adore Kendall’s eye look from the Versace Couture Show a few years back.
Another way to work it is by adding plants into your home. Not only will they add a bit of green into your life, having plants around the house can help assist with breathing, provide cleaner air and boost your mood. Winner winner.
Not a fan of wearing green? Why not watch something green instead. Whilst there are plenty of green-inspired films around to watch, one of our favourites has to be Moonrise Kingdom. Directed by Wes Anderson, this adventure film features his usual dreamy colour palette, with green being key. A couple of others to go for are Wizard of OZ, Green Lantern and Green Mile (not that green actually but it’s in the title so we’re counting it).
We’ve seen greenery pop up all over the catwalks lately too. From Molly Goddard’s Sophie Tulle Mini Dress as worn by Rihanna, to Kenzo’s SS17 matchy-matchy green eyeshadow/clothes combos, to Gucci’s oh-so-green showroom and suits. Plus who can forget this hilarious moment with Jared Leto & a coat he spotted on the Gucci catwalk back in August....
Feeling a little bold? This Kermit the Frog coat is one way to get heads turning with the greenery trend. As worn by Lady Gaga, this Jean-Charles De Castelbajac coat from his fall 2009 collection definitely screams ‘IDGAF what anyone thinks’. We love it.
