Behind The Brand: PR Executive | EGO

Want to know a bit more about working for EGO? We sat down with our PR Executive Helen to talk about how she got her role, her fave celebs to work with and her advice for people wanting to work in fashion.

1. What is your role here at EGO?

PR Executive

2. What does a typical day look like for you?

Each day varies, I don’t really have a typical day. It can be anything from dealing with press enquiries, talking to celebrities or even a press trip down to London to meet with magazine editors and press houses or to go to events.

3. How did you get into your role?

Since graduating from university I have always worked for Fashion companies and PR is a role I have picked up and developed along the way.

4. What’s your favourite part of the job?

I love seeing the brand being worn by big celebs. I remember once going through our tagged photos on Instagram one weekend and seeing that Winnie Harlow had tagged us which made me sooo excited! Winnie is someone I have followed for a long time so this was a big deal for me.

5. What’s been your best memory since starting the job?

One of my best memories was celebrating EGO’s first birthday. As one of EGO’s first members of staff, seeing us celebrating our first birthday and watching our growth over the year was amazing. It was really nice celebrating a year of hard work and seeing it all come together.

6. What are you looking forward to in the future?

I am excited to see EGO grow even bigger. Seeing how far we have come in just a year is amazing so I’m really excited to see what 2017 holds for us.

7. What celebs do you love working with?

I enjoy working with most of the celebrities. It often surprises me how down to earth some can be and just want to wear the shoes because they love the brand. That’s always really nice to see.

8. What celebs would you love to see wearing EGO?

I would love to see celebs like Emily Ratajkowski and Margot Robbie wearing EGO they are my ultimate girl crushes.

9. What advice would you give to someone wanting to do PR as their job?

Be patient. PR involves a lot of emails and phone calls that often end up going nowhere. You won’t always get a response from the celeb you want to send shoes to or the magazine you want to feature your brand. But be patient and you will see your hard work pay off. If you're going for an interview with a fashion brand I'd say to be yourself and show off your passion for fashion. Keep a portfolio on a website too, it's a great way to show off your work. (Psst, you can check out Helen's here).

11. If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose & why?

Tom Hardy - Basically just because he's fit and I want his dog as well haha.

Johnny Depp - But he would need to come as Captain Jack Sparrow because that would be hilarious.

Khloe Kardashian - So she can give me gym advice, her figure is amazing! Plus her workout routines on snapchat look so cool, would love to know more about them.
