#EGOUNLOCKED: Risco Runner | EGO

We sat down to chat with photographer / stylist Emma, aka Risco Runner, to talk about her newly found love for Instagram, her current playlist & her blogger crushes. Read on for more...

Emmanuelle Sits – but everyone calls me Emma.

Paris, France.

Photographer + Stylist.

1. Tell us about yourself in tweet form (you’ve got 140 characters!)

I’m a self-made photographer and stylist. I’m authentic, sensitive and I always reach goals I set. I can’t stand slow peeps and wasted time.

2. How did you end up where you are in life right now?

I started to work for modelling agencies as freelance photographer five or six years ago. That’s the part where I discovered my style, my inspirations, faces that I like, people I would work with again. At that time, I wouldn’t let anyone doing the stylist because I really wanted to it, separately from photography. Also, I felt like no one than the art director/photographer would do it better. I once worked with another stylist but God I wouldn’t do that again!!

I always had a platform to show my work as a photographer but not as a stylist. So I decided, on Sept 1st 2016, to create an Instagram only to showcase my stylist work. To save time and money, instead of hiring a model and a photographer, I decided to wear the outfits and to shoot self-portraits only. My bestfriend’s helping me out to shoot videos (soon!)

3. What’s been your proudest moment to date?

Right now! I started my IG barely 6 months ago and people are already writing articles about me and everything... I feel so blessed! Even Ego wants to hear about me!!

4. Who or what would you cite as your biggest inspiration?

I find inspiration not only in magazines but also in music, painting, drawing, sewing... I really consider streets as runways. I like analysing every kind of people in the street, not only the one from the fashion world. I think everyone can spread inspiration their own way.

5. What’s on your playlist right now?

The Weeknd (the new album is fire), but also Russ, Jaxon, Childish Gambino, Tory Lanez, J Soul, old Drizzy Drake songs, old Kanye songs also. I love listening to old black music like R Kelly, Missy Eliott, Jamie Foxx, The Fugees, Nelly, Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill, even Destiny’s Child. Not only rap but also jazz. I truly respect these huge voices; they’re a huge part of my musical education. I think I really feel this music.

6. Describe your style in three words…

Vintage. High End. Streetwear. Mix it up and you feel me.

7. What’s one item of clothing you can’t live without?

A black turtleneck. I have like, 15 exact same black turtlenecks that I love to wear below a tee or below a sweater or whatever. Everything matches with a black turtleneck. When I’m not in the mood to dress up, I just casually wear a black turtleneck + black straight pants + a pair of black vans and obviously, a black coat.

8. Tell us a random fact about yourself…

I wasn’t really into school. I used to skip college just to shoot my friends, or to wander in parks, or whatever would makes me happy. So I was very lucky to appreciate US music at that time, that’s actually how I learn English. I was the bad student of the class, with my earphones on, listening to Kanye first albums and writing lyrics on my notebook. These lyrics actually saved my ass! I wouldn’t be where I am without my English level.

9. What instagram accounts are you crushing on at the moment?

@yoyokulala is #1 inspiration, she is very chic yet so street! + she has the face of an angel.

Also @valentinamarzullo & @stylemeautivation because they both got aaaamazing pics on their feed and a cool style.

10. What does 2017 hold for you?

My future! I’m not that kind of person saying ‘this year is my year’ every year for New Years Eve. But this year, I said it!!
