The Lazy Girls Guide To Getting Fit

Let’s be honest now, no one WANTS to work out. Like if lifting the remote gave you abs then you could probably grate cheese on ours but sadly it doesn’t, and we usually just eat bites of cheese straight from the block in the fridge (no?…just us?). It’s either too hot outside to run, or cold, or raining, or dark, which just about covers every eventuality, and the run never happens. Nor does the trip to the gym, PLUS gyms are expensive. So here’s our self-proclaimed lazy girls guide to getting fit (or just getting off the couch a little more often).

High 10

So when it comes to exercise people forget that even a little bit is better than nothing so trying to get in 10 situps and 10 push-ups a day is a very achievable goal. They don’t even have to be consecutive. Drop your phone? do a press-up!

Stand Up At Least Every Hour

Grab a brew, go for a wee or try and get out for lunch, even if you’re eating lunch in your car you’ve got up and walked to it! Make a conscious effort to get up once an hour. If you’ve got an apple watch it should remind you if you haven’t!

Walk for 20 minutes a day

You really don’t need to drive your corner shop, do you? 20 minutes is easy to fit into your daily schedule, as easy as taking your dog on a walk.

Stay in the living room

A home workout is just as good as a workout in the gym, plus no one can see you looking like a drowned rat from all the sweating. Do some tricep dips from the comfort of your own couch,

Sleep properly

Sleeping properly is essential to getting fit. Rest and recovery are key to seeing good results. Sleep deprivation is also associated with increased heart rate, an increase in blood pressure which may put extra strain on your heart.

Don’t Worry How Long Your Workout Lasts

The quality of your workout doesn’t depend on the length of your workout. If you’re doing something, it’s better than nothing. If you don’t manage to work out for a full hour that’s okay, the same goes for only being able to run for one song (or just the intro) .

Work Out In The Adverts

This doesn’t work if you’re watching Netflix FYI. During the adverts squeeze in some mini workouts, jogging, skipping, squats or hula hooping will do the trick. Then reward yourself by sitting back down on the couch and carrying on binging whatever you’re into at the minute (just not the left over Christmas chocolate)

A great way to start (or a great way to stay sat on the couch) is to checkout new Activewear from Active By Ego
