Introducing the next edition of our #EGOUNLOCKED series. The place where we discover raw, new talent and give these babes a platform to talk about their talents, work and loves. Today we're chatting to the gorgeous @_thisisamina, a blogger, stylist, presenter and all round #GIRLBOSS.

1. Hey Amina! So you’re a stylist/present/blogger and so much more! What came first and how did it all come about?

Hey EGO! Blogging came first as a means to get myself out there and to get myself more comfortable being in front of a camera, as I had started a YouTube channel as part of my blog, to show people places I like to shop and talk about fashion, hair, beauty and anything else that I was interested in.

Presenting came after, as a result of people getting to know more of my personality, and I started getting more opportunities to work as a presenter and events host. I had avoided going into styling for a while, despite so many people telling me they think I’d be good at it, but I wasn’t sure if it was something I really wanted to do, or if I could even be a stylist.

After a while, I decided to give it a try, by assisting other stylists I knew, and realised that I quite enjoyed it. I’m currently working on building my confidence more and hope to get more stuck into being a stylist in the coming year.

2. If you had to choose one area to continue in, what would you choose and why?

If I was to choose one, it would definitely be presenting. That’s like my dream job! I feel that presenting allows me to just be myself, Amina, and basically get paid to do that. Who wouldn’t love that?! I’d perhaps have my own TV show about fashion that’s fun, quirky and entertaining. Or present interesting documentaries on the fashion industry and other areas of interest. I love watching documentaries on random things! I think, blogging will always be a part of me no matter what I do in my career, as I’ll always love sharing my style and taking pictures. And no matter how much of an established presenter I become, if Rihanna, Beyoncé or Justin Bieber asks me to style them, I’ll do it!

3. Who/what are your biggest childhood influences?

I grew up in the 90s so everything from that era is very close to my heart! I love everything to do with the 90s-00s. From music, to fashion, to the whole vibe of that time. I’d say that era influences my personal style, and the celebs of that era influenced me a lot growing up. From characters in my favourite TV shows, like Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Moesha, Saved by the Bell, the list goes on; to the artists behind the music I listened to. People like, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Aaliyah, Brandy, The Back Street Boys, too many to even mention! I just loved the 90s and always will!

4. We can’t get enough of your style, and you do it for less! What is the best thing you’ve ever thrifted?

I am the biggest bargain hunter! I absolutely love a good bargain. I love shopping in charity shops and thrift stores. They’re the best! I once thrifted about 15 winter coats all for £1 each and did a YouTube video showing them off. They were all really nice, super stylish winter coats. I still have them, and can’t wait to have them all on outfit rotation again this winter!

5. If you could style steal 3 other influencers wardrobes, who would you choose?

Sandra Lambeck (@sandralambeck) - I NEED every pair of Fenty Puma trainers she owns, and her jackets too.

Sherlina NYM (@sherlinanym) - her trainers and general footwear collection is just GOALS!

Sarah Ashcroft (@sarahahscroft) - forget her wardrobe, I just want her body…actually give me her wardrobe too! She’s the more feminine, sexy version of myself that’s trapped inside me and longing to come out, but can’t seem to get it together enough to look as good as her in a bodycon dress!

6. Fave meme RN?

The fact that this has been me so many times, makes it even more funny!

7. What flavour of ice cream would you be?

I’d definitely be Vanilla. Everyone likes good old classic Vanilla, and in the same way, I’m a person that everybody generally likes when they meet me. It’s very difficult not to like me tbh.

8. How would you spend your perfect weekend?

Make-up free, hair down (or in my case, wig off), bra off, in my PJs, listening to music very loudly and dancing around like a maniac, watching online TV and endless YouTube videos, while eating popcorn, Domino’s Pizza, Ice cream, and chicken wings. Either by myself or with a few friends over to chit-chat and laugh all day.

9. Got any guilty pleasures?

Food wise: Eating a bowl of cornflakes at night, and also mixing baked beans with egg and frying it together with onions to eat with plantain. Entertainment wise: watching ratchet online American TV shows like Love & Hip Hop, RHOA, and Bad Girls Club.

10. What’s coming next for Amina?

My hopes for 2017 is to go harder with everything I do. I want to master my fields, and push myself more. Come out of my comfort zone, unleash my full potential, be consistent, and be the best me that I can be.
