5 Vegan Celebrities Who'll Be Celebrating World Vegan Day

It’s no secret that plant-based eating has increased in popularity over recent years. In fact, the number of vegans in the UK has risen by 350% in the last decade, and a massive 600% increase in the US in the last three years. While many people might see it as the latest ‘fad’ - there are a number of vegan celebrities who swear by the plant-based lifestyle.

What is Veganism?

Veganism is a lifestyle similar to vegetarianism which also excludes eggs, dairy and other animal-derived ingredients. Many vegans also avoid leather products, makeup containing animal-derived ingredients, fur and wool. However, this totally depends on their reasons for going vegan and their individual beliefs - many people follow a vegan diet for health reasons, so aren’t as strict when it comes to clothing and cosmetics.

Although it might seem restrictive, there are a huge number of plant-based foods for vegans to choose from, including vegetables, fruits, grains, beans and nuts. There are also a whole load of vegan alternatives available, including vegan pizza, cheese and ice cream, as well as vegan cosmetics and faux-leather shoes.
