After a bottomless brunch with the girls it was decided to give Bumble a try which got us thinking, what is it that guys are looking for on these dating apps? Do they like girls who are funny, confident, shower them in compliments or a cheeky girl? We decided to take matters into our own hands and test out four different pick-up lines to see which proved to be the most effective. 

1. The classic pick-up line. 

You can’t go wrong with a classic and overly cheesy pickup line. 

This guy went from 0 – 100 real quick.

9/10 overall I would say a good cheesy pick-up line will always work. We’re not saying anything that people haven’t heard this a thousand times before but sometimes that’s all it takes to start the conversation. Our advice, if you are nervous of overcomplicating things, keep it simple, a cheesy joke is enough to break the ice without playing it safe.

 

2. The confident and sassy pick-up line.

Most men love a confident woman, and even if you’re not, like most women you’ll have to fake it.

Flattery, never fails.

 

Smoother than peanut butter, hopefully not the crunchy kind.

 

Now this guy does not beat around the bush.

7/10 If dating apps maybe aren’t your vibe this line is perfect. If you can’t be bothered to message backwards and forwards for the next however many days all in the hope he’ll eventually ask for your number, just ask for his! The reason why Bumble is so empowering is it allows the girls to message boys first so why not go one more step forward and get his number while you’re at it.

 

3. The cute compliment pick-up line.

Who doesn’t love being complimented every now and then?

Three messages in a row, called by my Sunday name, someone’s clearly interested.

 

Like we said before who doesn’t love being complimented.

 

Heart eye emoji = caught the feels.

7/10 this pick-up line had a surprisingly decent success rate, I guess the way to a guy’s heart isn’t through his stomach it’s through inflating his EGO. It’s so easy to get caught up with the idea that guys should shower their date with compliments but it’s 2020. When you’re on your first date remember to compliment him too.

4. The wild card pick-up line.

Guys say they want to be kept on their toes by a cheeky girl, but do they really mean it?

I mean 7/10 isn’t too bad.

 

Erm…

8/10 as much as we all love a bit of cheese this pick-up line definitely takes a strong second place. You can learn a lot about someone based on how they reply to a pick-up line like this. Are they witty, complimentary or is their banter ever so slightly lacking. Depending on what matters to you in a potential romantic partner will decide if they are a yay or a nay.
